Dr Rebecca Ryder is a specialist Gynaecologist with a different approach to women’s health. We offer a boutique, individualised service to our patients. With one hour initial appointments for all patients Dr Ryder can perform a thorough assessment and make a personalised plan. Dr Ryder has ongoing email/phone contact with her patients to ensure their concerns can be addressed between appointments. She believes in taking the time to address each woman’s needs, and in partnering with her patients to achieve desired surgical, and non-surgical, outcomes.

Special Interest

Dr Ryder has completed six years of specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in QLD and has been awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

With advanced training in laparoscopic surgery Dr Ryder performs total laparoscopic hysterectomy, excision of endometriosis, ovarian cystectomy and myomectomy with a minimally invasive approach. She has a special interest in persistent pelvic pain and believes in taking a holistic, multimodal approach in managing pain and endometriosis. Dr Ryder is a certified colposcopist and has experience in managing menopause, PCOS and heavy menstrual bleeding.

Awards and Achievements

Dr Ryder received first class honours during her medical degree at Griffith University School of Medicine. She was awarded the University Medal for academic achievement and the Clinical Skills Medallion (for first in her cohort for clinical skills). She was actively involved in RANZCOG during her gynaecology training and was elected to be the RANZCOG QLD Trainee Representative by her peers. In 2019 Dr Ryder was awarded the prestigious AMA Australian Doctor in Training Award for her contribution to surgical training and mentorship of junior doctors. She is passionate about well-being and mentoring the next generation of health care professionals.

Positions Held

Dr Ryder is a Private Gynaecologist consulting in the Ramsay Specialist Suites at Greenslopes Private Hospital, and she is credentialed for operations at Greenslopes & Brisbane Private Hospitals. She has a permanent consultant appointment in public Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital and is a member of the AMA, the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery Society (AGES) and the Pelvic Pain Foundation. Dr Ryder plays an active role in teaching and examining medical students, she is an Associate Lecturer for the University of Queensland.

Work life balance

Outside of work Dr Ryder loves spending time with her wonderful and chaotic family, including her husband, three young children and their puppy ‘Waffles.’
